TMMPO (Pronounced "Tempo”), James Morrison, is a dynamic 32-year-old DJ, Drummer, and Producer from Chesapeake, VA. A 2014 graduate of Virginia Tech and the Official DJ of Virginia Tech Athletics, TMMPO has spent the last decade energizing Hokie Nation. Now entering his 11th season, he has become an integral part of the Virginia Tech experience, known for his electrifying performances at Lane Stadium during Hokie Football home games and his role in launching the Hokie Village Fan Fest in 2014.
TMMPO’s career reached new heights internationally when he became the
resident DJ for the Team USA House during the 2024 Paris Olympics. For all 17 days of the Olympics, TMMPO provided the soundtrack for the official gathering space for U.S. athletes, coaches, and their families. His role at the Team USA House involved curating and performing live sets that captured the spirit of the Olympics, enhancing the atmosphere during medal celebrations, athlete meet-and-greets, and other high-profile events. This prestigious opportunity solidified TMMPO’s reputation as a top-tier DJ capable of engaging and energizing diverse, global audiences.
Throughout his career, TMMPO has also shared the stage with major artists such as 2Chainz, Juicy J, Sage the Gemini, Third Eye Blind, Delta Rae, and more. These performances have further established his presence in the industry, demonstrating his ability to command large crowds and deliver unforgettable experiences alongside some of the biggest names in music.
TMMPO's journey began at 12 with his mobile DJ company, Mo Music Productions. What started as traditional DJing quickly evolved into a career marked by performances at nightclubs, Red Bull events, and high-profile competitions. His creativity and passion for music led him to develop original music, mashups, and the popular monthly mix series, "Feel the TMMPO."
Raised in a military family, TMMPO learned early on that true happiness comes not from wealth, but from the drive for energy and connection. This philosophy has fueled his career, earning him accolades such as "Best Party Rocking DJ" at Virginia Tech after winning the Red Bull Thre3Style University competition in April 2013. By his final year at VT, he had taken Blacksburg by storm, performing at some of the university's largest events, including multiple Virginia Tech Ring Dances, the Relay for Life at Virginia Tech (The World’s Largest Collegiate Relay for Life), Virginia Tech Alumni Association events and The Big Event at Virginia Tech.
In addition to his work with Virginia Tech, TMMPO has DJed at various notable events supporting military-focused events like USO Warrior Week in Virginia Beach and the SEAL Veterans Foundation & UDT-SEAL Association.
As he continues to evolve and innovate, TMMPO remains dedicated to bringing energy and excitement to every performance, always pushing the boundaries of what a DJ can do.
